How to Link Your Music Studio Website to the Nova Family Portal
Add the Nova Family Portal to your music studio website with one secure link, clear labels, and simple testing steps for families.
Every studio website is built differently. Your buttons and menu settings may have different names, but the basic process is the same: add an external link and point it to the Nova Family Portal.
The link every studio should use is:
https://app.trynovamusic.com/student-login
This is a normal website link, not an embedded Nova widget. You can add it to a navigation menu, button, or line of text so families can reach Nova from the studio website they already know.
Before you add the link
First, sign in to Nova and go to Settings → Portal. Make sure the families who should use the portal have access. This step happens inside Nova; adding the website link does not create access for a family by itself.
Once access is ready, open your studio website editor. The instructions below work whether you are an independent piano teacher, part of a larger music school, or teaching another instrument.
Add the Family Portal to your website
- Sign in to your website editor. Open the service or dashboard you normally use to update your studio website.
- Choose where the link should appear. Add a menu item, button, or text link. A link under Lessons is a clear choice because families are likely to look there first.
- Choose an external link. Your editor may call this setting URL, Web address, or External link.
- Paste the Nova Family Portal address. Use
https://app.trynovamusic.com/student-loginexactly as written. - Give the link a clear label. Good options are Family Portal, Student Login, or Nova Portal.
- Choose whether it opens in a new tab. This is optional, but it lets families keep your studio website open while they use Nova.
- Save and publish your website. A change in the editor may not appear publicly until you select Publish, Update, or a similar button.
- Open your public website while logged out. Do not test only inside the website editor or while signed in to Nova.
- Test the link on a phone and a computer. Confirm that it opens the Nova Family Portal sign-in page on both screen sizes.
If the link does not work, compare the address in your website editor with the URL above. A missing character or extra space can send families to the wrong page.
What if your website editor looks different?
Nova provides the destination link, but we cannot determine the exact controls used by every Wix, Squarespace, WordPress, Google Sites, or custom-built website. Each website provider organizes its menus and buttons differently, and those controls can change over time.
If you get stuck, search your website provider's documentation for “add an external link to navigation.” You can also contact the person who manages your website. Give them the destination URL and the label you want; they should not need access to your Nova account.
Do not look for Nova-specific embed code or a widget setting. For this setup, you are simply creating a standard link from one website to another.
What families see after they sign in
All studios use the same secure Nova Family Portal login page. Each family's credentials determine which studio and records they can access, so you do not need a different portal link for every family.
After signing in, families can see lesson dates and whichever portal features you have enabled for them in Nova. If a family reaches the sign-in page but cannot access the expected information, return to Settings → Portal and check their access there.
Copy this request for your website designer
If someone else manages your site, send them this exact note:
Please add a navigation link under Lessons called “Family Portal.” Point it to https://app.trynovamusic.com/student-login and configure it to open in a new tab.
They can use a different label or placement if it fits your website better. The important part is that the destination remains the exact Nova Family Portal URL.
Practical studio tool
Use this quick check before telling families the link is ready:
- Portal access is enabled under Nova → Settings → Portal.
- The website label is easy for a family to recognize.
- The destination is
https://app.trynovamusic.com/student-login. - The website change is published, not only saved as a draft.
- The link works while logged out on both phone and desktop.
