GAME BOARD: Build a four-beat pizza

Every slice is one beat. Fill the whole pizza without going over.

  • Four numbered one-beat slices
  • Quarter-note example - 1 beat
  • Paired-eighth example - 1 beat
  • Quarter-rest example - 1 silent beat

Clap your pizza twice before you play it.

How to use it

  1. 1Print the pizza base and one set of rhythm toppings.
  2. 2Have the student choose toppings that add up to four beats.
  3. 3Clap the finished pizza, then perform it on one note or open string.

Teaching notes

  • Ask students to leave one beat empty, then choose the correct rest to fill it.
  • Photograph successful pizzas so students can replay them next week.
